Mayor Patrick Escalante, Board Member Salvador Escalante Jr., and Cadiz City officials joined the passengers in welcoming the first shipping line M/V Margarita that docked from Bantayan.

The M/V Margarita shipping line, which has a seating capacity of 100, is owned and operated by a Cadiznon Pablo Sarabia Sr.

It is scheduled to cruise from Cadiz to Bantayan and vice versa for twice a day.

The company charges P250 for economy in the lower deck and P270 for the upper deck.

Mayor Escalante said he is proud to announce that the port, which is 100% owned by the people of Cadiz, is now open for business and will eventually help boost their economy and increase employment in the city.

He also announced that more shipping vessels are expected to come and one of them will take the route from Batangas to Cadiz and vice versa.

i am proud to have mr. sarabia who have the courage to venture a commercial vessel to facilitate the different products of negros island down to bantayan island as well as giving people a chance to travel especially if you’d like to visit bantayan island which i supposed that most of cadiznon have links to bantayan people.

But mr. sarabia, this is just a friendly reminder that while we enjoy the fruits of your labor and business, do not forget your responsibility to implement what is mandated by law governing common carrier, always think that this kind of business, common carrier is always presumed to be at fault unless you prove otherwise. always think of the safety of your passengers’ lives and cargo.

sometimes we tend to forget that extrat diligence is highly expected to those who venture common carrier business or any transportation business, always remeber the responsibility to the public.

for the cadiznon government agency tasked to inspection for the commercial vessels, please do your part, checking the sea worthiness of the commercial vessel do not just wait for the vesserl officials and cargo to bribe you with their cash or pleasure, because you are being put in there to do your job and receiving tax payers money for your job.

do your job as expected to coast guards and other agency for the safety of marine vessels. because in the end we will retire without regret as we’ve done our part to make cadiz proud of what we share.

god bless mr. sarabia and people of cadiz as well as mayor and city officials.
